Chrome Cobalt Frameworks

Simcast has been producing cobalt chrome partial frameworks for over 50 years.
We use fully compliant alloy powder and guarantee fit on every framework.

Standard turnaround is five to six working days from receipt. Express service available.

Why Cobalt Chrome?

Cobalt chrome is widely used for partial denture frameworks because it is extremely strong while remaining lightweight.
This allows frameworks to be thinner, more comfortable for patients and more stable during function.

Dimensional Accuracy

Cobalt chrome frameworks maintain dimensional stability during function. The alloy resists deformation under load, allowing clasps and connectors to retain their intended position over time.

Cobalt chrome vs acrylic

A chrome framework can be designed with thinner connectors than an acrylic equivalent, reducing palatal coverage and improving patient comfort. The alloy does not creep or deform under load, which means clasp position and denture fit remain stable over time.
For partial dentures requiring rigid connectors, precision rests or minimal soft tissue coverage, cobalt chrome is the appropriate material.

Our Framework Production Process

We offer both traditional model-based production and digital production via CAD design combined with SLM metal printing.

Submitting a framework case

Post your working model with the completed lab sheet and freepost label, or upload a digital file via the Send Files page for digital cases.
Where required, we can produce a plastic trial framework before the alloy stage so the design can be tried in the mouth first.

Production and quality control

All frameworks are produced using fully compliant alloy powder. Every framework is seated on the model before despatch if required. If it does not fit, give us a call and we can adjust or remake it for you.

Return and despatch

Traditional cases are returned on the original model. Digital cases are returned on an accurate printed model if requested, so your working model never leaves your laboratory.
A freepost return label is available to download from the website.

Outsourcing Framework Production

Maintaining in-house cobalt chrome production requires significant equipment investment and ongoing technical expertise.
For laboratories producing a lower volume of framework cases, outsourcing to a specialist producer is often more cost-effective and delivers more consistent results.

When outsourcing makes sense

Outsourcing is worth considering when your laboratory produces fewer frameworks than the volume needed to justify the equipment overhead, when in-house results are inconsistent, or when you want to offer digital production without the capital investment.

Frequently Asked Questions
